Michigan Legacy Art Park is a nonprofit contemporary sculpture park founded in 1995 by internationally acclaimed artist David Barr, set within a 31-acre hardwood forest preserve in Benzie County. Two miles of hiking trails wind through the forest, connecting visitors with site-specific artworks that explore Michigan’s history, culture, and environment. Located near Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, the sculpture park inspires awareness and appreciation of place through outdoor contemporary art, making it a distinctive destination for experiencing art in a natural Northern Michigan setting.
If you're looking for a quiet moment of reflection, the artist-created benches scattered throughout the woods provide some of the best vantage points for birdwatching or simply listening to the wind through the pines.

This is a true gem in our region. What’s better than a hike in the woods? A hike in the woods with incredible, world class artists! I took my son here and we had so much fun roaming and exploring and not knowing what wonderful sculpture would amaze us next.
Amazing family friendly hike. Our kids ask every year to go. Beautiful art and sculptures along the trail keeps everyone encouraged to keep moving.
