Attention Grants are a simple experiment.
Each month, Great Lakes artists, arts organizations, cultural projects, and community initiatives are selected to receive dedicated attention through interviews, features, promotion, documentation, and discovery efforts across the GreatLakes.art network.
Rather than treating visibility as something to buy, Attention Grants explore what happens when attention is invested in cultural work as a shared resource.
Selected projects may receive a combination of:
Attention Grants are free to apply for and funded through sponsorships, memberships, and promotional placements.
Every application also helps strengthen our growing directory of cultural work across the Great Lakes region.
We review applications on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Now reviewing applications received during:
June 2026
Applications received from Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.
80+ applications received:
Because selections are editorially curated, applications are not reviewed strictly in the order they are received. We consider factors such as geography, artistic discipline, timing, diversity of projects, available sponsorships, and editorial capacity.
*Submitting earlier may increase visibility within the review process, but submission date alone does not determine selection.
*Submitted Attention Grant content may be formatted and edited using a combination of automations, human assistants, and text-based AI tools. No images or artist work is ever submitted into AI systems.
Attention Grants support artists and organizations by creating visibility, context, and connections that help cultural work become more discoverable and durable online.
